Simple Spanish Sangria

SIMPLE SPANISH SANGRIA

I don't think it's true that Sangria only makes sense in the heat of summer. I think it makes the most sense when you're the lucky recipient of a slightly sub-par bottle of wine - no matter the season. Either way, it's delicious, refreshing and impressive.

I like to serve this in some nice looking glasses. Preferably on a balcony or patio.

Ingredients

1/2 cup simple syrup (equal parts of water and sugar heated to a boil and cooled. I make mine in the microwave)

juice of one orange

juice of 1/2 lemon

1 bottle of red wine - I use Rioja but you can use any red wine you like.

1 cup triple sec or brandy

1 orange cut into small pieces

1 lime cut into small pieces

1 lemon cut into small pieces

Method

combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, stir and let stand in the refrigerator for a minimum of one hour. serve over ice.
